I want share lil bit about Indonesian tradition, now will write about Dayak tradition.
Before you come to Kalimantan (Borneo), you must know first about Borneo Culture. Especially about Dayak tribe, native population of Borneo. Now I want to write a post about “Dayak’s Tatto”, long time I want to share about it. But I must learn more about this topic, cause I would not make a mistakes when share this post.
Tatto. You know what is “Tatto”? Many people in Indonesia not too like “Tatto”. cause they’re think if you has a tatto on your body, you must be not good person. But it’s a past stories about Indonesian minded. Now many people in Indonesia make a tatto on they’re body, and say “thats art”.
But did you know that among the Dayak tribe, tattoos have a special meaning that is very far from being whiz, or just show off much force or decorate the body? Tattoos were traditionally created using thorns from citrus trees with the ink in the form of soot in the salt mix for the Dayak community is part of the tradition, religion, and even to characterize high and low social status and also can be a form of homage to the tribe of one’s ability.
Although each sub tribe Dayak have rules and motives different from each other but the purpose of tattooing itself actually have in common is religion that is functioning as a torch or lighting someone on the way to the nature of eternity, after death. So, the more tattoos a person’s body is found in the more natural way to immortality is clear that.
Even so, it does not mean everyone can make tattoos on their bodies at will due to the Dayak tattoo can not be made in vain. There are certain rules that must be followed before a person get a tattoo on his body, such as the choice of tattoo motifs, and also the tattoo placement of parts of the body. People who will be in the tattoo can not just choose the desired motif or part of the body where the tattoo because he wants to earlier must first be subject to the customary rules. Each sub-tribe in Dayak has its own rules regarding tattoos. There’s even a sub tribe Dayak tattoo that has no tradition at all.
Below I briefly describe some of the motifs are frequently used by the Dayak sub the following for their tattoos what needs to be done before the concerned person gets the tattoo motif.
I just can share it now, will tell you more later when I am get more info about this one.
